This morning I found a post on The Daily Swarm that showcased a few video clips from a somewhat disgruntled music store (instruments, not CDs/vinyl) employee. If you have ever stepped foot into a Guitar Center or independently owned retailer of musical instruments, you’re aware that it can be painful on the eardrums, depending on the talent of the customers testing out gear. This dude documented a few of those such moments. Enjoy!
Yeah Comic Con was last week – but for us folks that didn’t get to attend it (but wish that they could have) there are some highlights floating around the interwebs that you can check out. One of the panels I would have attended would have been for Dexter. I love that show. I’m actually considering re-subscribing to Showtime just so I don’t have to wait for the DVDs to come out via Netflix. Anyway, check out the videos below that show some of the cast and producers talking about the upcoming fifth season that will premiere on September 26.
I am sure that just about everybody has watched at least a few of the Improv Everywhere pranks, such as the Ben Folds Fake and Slo Mo Home Depot, but these two are definitely my favorites. The first is when ghosts begin to wander into a library, so of course, who are you gonna call? The next is a pretty genius bit of Star Wars action on a NYC subway train. Yup, nerdy as hell, but I loved ‘em! Enjoy!
Over the weekend, I finally got a chance to sit down and watch Terry Gilliam’s most recent feature film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. As a HUGE Gilliam fan (Brazil, Time Bandits, 12 Monkeys, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, plus MONTY PYTHON), he has directed and written many of my all time favorite movies. Imaginarium was another piece of incredible eye candy, as his visuals were top notch as usual.
With Gilliam fresh on the brain, imagine my surprise when some news about Arcade Fire’s upcoming webcast started popping up all over my RSS reader. Turns out he will be directing Arcade Fire’s August 5 webcast from Madison Square Garden in NYC. If this news from Entertainment Weekly, among many others, is correct… it should be a doozy! To tide us over, here are a few bits of Terry Gilliam’s work:
While hiding from the heat here in Austin this weekend, I managed to catch plenty of Comic Con 2010 coverage on the TV network G4, as well as by following Tweets from many favorite celebs that were making the rounds in San Diego. In attendance were many personal favorites including the gang from Mythbusters, Joel McHale & the cast of Community, Simon Pegg & Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun Of The Dead), Edgar Wright, Bruce Campbell, the list just goes on and on… I am feeling that a Dangerbird road trip may be in order for 2011. I know that Natalia from The Dears is totally down.
Yup. Gonna make this happen! It could help me cross off a few peeps from my “people I must drink a pint with” list. YES!
