Our friends over at KCRW have announced that they will be taking their music programming to a whole new level. For die hard music lovers, you will soon be able experience KCRW’s unique blend of musical tastes 24/7 online via their all-music channel, Eclectic24. Launching on Labor Day, September 7, this online music destination will encompass the various genres and tastes from their entire team of DJs, bringing a smorgasbord of up and coming new music, live performances, etc.

About the new online channel, KCRW Music Director and host of Morning Becomes Eclectic Jason Bentley said: “Music fans still want to be surprised and turned on to something completely unexpected — that’s the beauty of radio. What’s special about this new channel is that it combines those fresh ideas with the rich history of our station in a non-stop music stream for our fans worldwide. Our online-only music stream is already one of the chief reasons people visit KCRW.com and Eclectic24 will truly reflect the essence of everything that we are, musically.”

KCRW DJ and former Music Director Chris Douridas will be in charge of programming Eclectic 24. For those of you in the LA area, the station will be broadcast on 89.9 FM and online at KCRW.com on Monday, Sept 7, from 9am to midnight, with a break for All Things Considered. After that, you’ll find it exclusively on www.kcrw.com/eclectic24. We will be tuning in!

It is time to wipe the dust off the ol’ Dangerbird Blog and get this sucker up and running again! I know that several members of the DangerTeam are fans of the British comedian/actor Ricky Gervais, myself included. The original British version of The Office is still one of the best TV programs of all time. What many people may not realize is that back in the ’80s, he formed a band with his friend Bill Macrae called Seona (“Shawna”) Dancing. I stumbled upon the video for their single “Bitter Heart” this afternoon while cruising through my RSS reader. You can read more about Ricky’s musical past over at Mental Floss (via The Daily Swarm).

Oh, and here is a Ricky Gervais fun fact: Ricky managed the UK band Suede briefly before they were signed.
