…have absolutely no corrrelation, other than that they both need to share the topic of my first blog.
I promised I’d post about our recent Eagles of Death Metal performance on Jimmy Kimmel, and though I’m a little late, better late than never. (And I know… cause I’m usually late…)
So, if you missed it, Eagles of Death Metal performed on the outdoor stage on Jimmy Kimmel on Nov 3rd. The show was great, the band looked exceptionally rocker-chic, the performance was classic as always, and the crowd loved every second of it.
Luckily you can catch a glimse of it
here. (Fabulous, aren’t they?)
Now, what I really want to talk about is even bigger than our rockers being on national TV. It’s our nation as we know it, finally taking the turn we’ve been waiting for. (Sorry to get serious on you Dangerblog..)
I can’t even begin to tell you how thrilled I am that Obama is our new leader. I’m sure many of you agree that it feels as if we can finally all breathe a sigh of relief. We can finally regain hope and pride in our country. This is a time of unfathomable possibilities, change, and empowerment…. This is history in the making.
But there’s a problem.
Thankfully, our country was FINALLY open minded enough to elect a president of another race. It actually feels like we’ve gotten somewhere after all our inhumane mistakes of the past. THANK YOU America. But… I have to ask…. what happened to California?
If a generally divided country can finally agree to be non judgemental of the color of one’s skin, why can’t we be non judgemental of someone’s sexual preference?
Though I am stoked on Prop 2 (hugh animal fan), we literally just GAVE more rights to farm animals, and took AWAY rights of living, loving human beings. Excuse me, but what??
If we are going to change as a country, which almost everyone agrees we need to do, then we need to start with ourselves. Denying basic human rights like love and marriage is not the direction we need to be headed in. It’s almost 2010… let’s catch up with the times already.
